In April 1995, two attorneys with extensive midtown Manhattan litigation experience set up shop in Queens. Their goal was to provide medical, commercial and institutional clients with the highest level of defense litigation services at both the trial and appellate levels. With keen insight into the judiciary of the five Boroughs of New York City and the Counties of Nassau and Suffolk, Bréa Yankowitz PC is a fixture in courts of those counties. The firm is also committed to legal service, being active in bar and civic associations. Patrick J. Bréa is an officer of the Catholic Lawyers' Guild and past lecturing member of the Committee on Medical Malpractice of The Association of the Bar of the City of New York.
The firm is presently focused on the defense of professional negligence and general liability matters and receives assignments from such well known carriers as St. Paul Travelers, Met Life Insurance Co., Medical Liability Mutual Insurance Co., Physicians Reciprocal Insurers, Royal Sun Alliance Insurance Co., Hospital Insurance Company, as well as a number of entities including Peninsula Hospital, New York Community Hospital and North General Hospital. Most recently the firm has represented the insureds of the New York State Liquidation Bureau. It has developed a particular expertise in the defense of doctors, hospitals and their staffs, products and premises liability, labor law cases, as well as general negligence claims. It has also been engaged as appellate counsel in liability matters.
